NOC Manager – Tier 2 Data/IP – C-Shift

Locations: Allen, TX - Rochester, NY

This manager is responsible for leading a group of Tier 2 Data/IP technicians in fast paced, demanding environment. It requires a highly technical candidate who also has the ability to effectively lead a team in achieving the primary goal of maintaining a specific mean time to repair for network incidents. This position reports to the Director of NOC – Tier 2 Data/IP.

Day-to-day work responsibilities:

  • Maintain a constant understanding of the state of Frontier’s Data network
  • Effectively lead troubleshooting efforts during outage bridges
  • Continuously prioritize dynamic workloads based upon the state of the network
  • Mentor Tier 2 resources in troubleshooting and technical knowledge development
  • Provide training and mentoring for the Tier 1 Data organization
  • Coordinate and grow partnerships with many organizations including Tier 1 NOC, Advanced Technical Support, Commercial Customer Support Center, Field Operations, Engineering, and Network Architecture.
  • Utilize, manage and maintain network and performance monitoring tools to ensure network reliability and fast root cause. (Netcool, SNMP based systems)
  • Ensure Root Cause Analysis documents are completed on time and recommended process changes are effectively implemented.
  • Manage staff, schedules and training for the Tier 2 Data/IP organization
  • Collaborate with all NOC leaders to develop and establish new processes and procedures
  • Quickly mitigate DDoS attacks


  • 5-10 Years of experience as a Tier 2 Data/IP Technician, Senior Engineer, Senior Planner or Architect
  • 5 years JUNOS experience
  • Operating experience with network routing protocols; eBGP, iBGP, OSPF
  • Operating experience with Juniper & Cisco BNG
  • Operating experience with MPLS
  • Operating experience with switch protocols; STP, RSTP, PBB
  • Operating experience with Metro Ethernet and QoS
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate a Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 network using a whiteboard and standard terminology
  • Proven Leadership skills
  • Excellent Critical Thinking Skills
  • Ability to rotate through on-call duty
  • Staffing & Recruiting Experience
  • Process Development Experience
  • Coding & Scripting Experience

Highly desirable experience:

  • Experience with Linear Video and/or IPTV Services
  • Experience with Metro-Ethernet circuits
  • Experience with Nokia, Juniper & Cisco
  • Experience configuring and supporting Access equipment; such as DSLAM, IP/DSLAM, OLT
  • Working in a Network Operations Center
  • Project Management

Desired Certifications:

  • Any vendor specific certifications (Adtran, Calix. ALU, etc.)
