IBM Global Industry Portfolio Marketing Manager in ARMONK, New York

IBM’s Global Industry Marketing team has the essential mission to drive IBM’s Industry growth in response to a changing market where IT investments are determined by their ability to deliver strategic differentiation and quantifiable business results. Today’s IT solutions investment decisions have moved from the glass house to the board room where decisions are often made in buying teams representing different organizational departments, by Line-of-Business (LOB) executives as well as traditional IT roles. These new buying dynamics require expert marketers with the skill and passion to study the market, identify issues influencing buying priorities, understand buyer behaviors, engage appropriate sales routes, and regularly evaluate the strength/weakness of offerings. As a Global Industry Portfolio Marketing Manager you will play an essential leadership role within the integrated marketing discipline team supporting an Industry’s business. Your selection of markets, buyers and offerings will set the direction for developing the full client engagement strategy. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Industry Marketplace including current and projected future trends.

  • Research and recommend market and account segment opportunities to expand current business revenue and to drive sales demand for IBM’s strategic technologies.

  • Create rich profiles of the intended buyer and how they go through the buying process in buying teams or as individuals

  • Evaluate and prioritize the most relevant and effective offerings into offering portfolios that best meet the buyer needs and goals.

  • Develop route to market plans to define sales teams to be included and supported in the execution of marketing plans

  • Partner with Market, Geo and other WW Industry Diamond Teams to create and execute highly effective campaigns

  • Create compelling and original value propositions and narratives for each buying agenda

  • Engage Market and Geo Diamond teams and outside analysts to test clarity and impact of value propositions

  • Co-create the go to market client experience plan through the Diamond Teams

  • Work with the rest of the Diamond Team to continually optimize performance of campaigns based on local feedback, specifically messaging, content assets and response offers

  • Build environment of mutual trust between WW, Geo and Markets based on shared vision, quality delivery, harvesting and reuse of assets, best practice sharing

  • Report marketing contribution to total business results as part of the management system

This role is located in the IBM office in Armonk, New York.Must be able and willing to travel to New York City for meetings with Industry Marketing executives and team members.Must have the ability to work in the US without current/future need for IBM sponsorship.Do work that matters.Discover your true potential.Be yourself.

  • 4+ years brand, category or product management experience

  • Industry depth of knowledge and commonly used IT solutions and products

  • Ability to use a variety of data sources to make convincing decisions on where to invest in marketing

  • Strong “client-first” mindset, always putting the needs of clients first

  • Ability to understand technology related offerings and to find the value they provide to buyers

  • Proven leadership in matrixed team environments

  • Experience defining business goals and performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness of plans
