POSITION PURPOSEThe Director, Brand Public Relations is primarily responsible for developing and implementing a plan to communicate the company's merchandising and operations themes in a consistent, strategic and timely manner to the local, trade, national and international news media. This individual will work closely with the corporate public relations and social media teams to drive a unified company communications strategy. In addition, he/she will be charged with identifying and prioritizing the top critical issues facing the company, advising senior management on potential ramifications, developing a proactive action plan to mitigate potential damage to the corporation, and taking advantage of potential opportunities.MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and execute publicity strategies designed to maximize the visibility of the company and its business to trade, business and financial, local, regional, national and international media.

  • Create and manage Merchandising and Marketing PR programs that include product publicity and the creation and implementation of major campaigns.

  • Oversee all external communications projects for the business U.S. Stores function, which includes Tool Rental, Home Services and the Pro business.

  • Create, execute and measure quarterly PR plans that are designed to help the company achieve its business goals.

  • Serve one of the company's chief spokesperson to the press and promote a favorable public image of the company's performance and accomplishments to external constituencies and audiences.

  • Lead, manage and motivate a team of skilled and diverse professionals at the SSC and the divisional office to produce world class publicity results.

NATURE AND SCOPEPosition reports to Sr. Director of Public Relations/Corporate CommunicationsENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTSEnvironment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.Travel: Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.Additional Environmental Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.Additional Minimum Qualifications:Education Required:The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.Years of Relevant Work Experience: 10-15 yearsPhysical Requirements:Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.Additional Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications:

  • A college degree is required.

  • An advanced degree in Business, Finance or Communications is preferred.

  • Candidate should have 10-15 years of experience with a significant level of prior experience in a senior communications role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Experienced in the development and implementation of major public and/or government relations programs

  • The ability to work and be an integral part of a fast-paced, decision-making working environment

  • Knowledge of media relations, social media and other emerging communications mediums

  • Keen understanding of the issues and challenges facing the company and the industry

  • The ability to manage professional and support staff members effectively as well as appropriately advise senior-level corporate levels

  • The professional maturity to work closely and gain credibility with the company s senior management
