Home Depot Sr. Specialist, Product Innovation Communications in Atlanta, Georgia
The Senior Specialist, Product Innovation Communications is a highly motivated, collaborative, results-oriented, creative individual with experience and passion for telling brand stories. Developing high-impact storytelling opportunities will be demonstrated as he/she works in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Product Innovation Communications. This role will develop dynamic and engaging communications programs that focus on The Home Depot’s product innovation and technology objectives.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
25%- Manage and develop consumer-facing PR programs to advance earned media strategy in support of high-impact storytelling campaigns.
20%- Support communications campaigns that support business objectives in collaboration with merchandising, e-commerce, marketing, and other departments.
20%- Develop, cultivate and maintain positive relationships with media, increasing awareness of and generating interest in The Home Depot’s products and programs.
20%- First point of contact for media inquiries, obtain all information and work with PR Team Members, cross functional departments and agency partners to make recommendations for brand inclusion
10%- Craft creative press materials and serve as liaison with The Home Depot’s owned media team to provide compelling stories that are delivered through the company’s blog and website.
5%- Track consumer-focused beat reporters to identify changes in coverage or new opportunities and enhance/maintain PR Team’s media lists and develop brand PR recaps or recommendations for future PR initiatives.
Nature and Scope:
This position report directly to the Sr Manager of Product Innovation Communications.
This position has no direct reports.
Environmental Job Requirements:
Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel: Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass pre-employment test if applicable.
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Work Experience Required: 3
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations or Communications
3+ years of Public Relations experience, with a focus on media relations; Agency and/or corporate public relations experience preferred, specifically working with a CPG, a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Strong organizational interpersonal skills; keen ability to prioritize and skillfully handle multiple assignments and high-volume detail work, within a fast-paced environment.
A strong working knowledge of social media and digital platforms, plus traditional media relations skills.
