HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Bed Specialist PRN/ Crisis Assessment Team in Aurora, Colorado
Position Summary:The individual is responsible for facilitating admissions of HCAT patients from HealthONE emergency departments to behavioral health hospital services via management of phone triage. He/she will work closely with all healthcare providers to facilitate and coordinate efficient, effective, quality healthcare. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s clinical status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements related to his or her age-specific needs. He/she will utilize various computer technologies to ensure communication between HCAT and emergency departments regarding the flow of mental health patients. He/she will implement and comply with all the policies, procedures and standards of the unit, department and the institution. The HCAT Bed Specialist must be available for 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends.
The HCAT Bed Specialist is responsible for providing services to patients who have complex psychosocial and discharge planning needs. In addition, the HCAT Bed Specialist community assistance, and under the guidance of the HCAT Clinician, coordinates and facilitates the development of a Discharge Plan of Care for at-risk patient population with discharge needs. The HCAT Bed Specialist also functions as a member of the/Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team/, who communicates and receives referrals from other patient care providers to help meet the needs of the patient and family for a safe discharge.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience in mental health, crisis work, experience preferred
D. Special Qualifications:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal communication skills 2. Knowledgeable of State of Colorado, Mental Health Services 27-65 statute and regulations as well as Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division 27-81-101 and 27-82-107 statutes and standards, and EMTALA 3. Knowledgeable of behavioral health emergency populations, evaluation, consultation, and process 4. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, apply critical thinking process 5. Ability to work in high acuity and stressful environment 6. Ability to engage multiple systems in disposition planning and implementation 7. Respond to all customers using AIDET, iCARE, and knowledge with Trauma Informed Care
