POSITION SUMMARY:

Work in small innovative teams on mission critical software applications. Provide software design and development expertise in support of both new application development tasks and maintenance. Developers are expected to have excellent technical acumen and be highly self-directed and motivated. You will be part of an agile team where communication skills and the ability to conform to established configuration management and development practices are paramount to yours and the team’s success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in new development and sustainment activities on an R&D system. Collaborate and develop technical solutions compliant with the design and interface definitions. Additionally, the Developer will provide support to test, integration, and deployment of the software baseline. Candidates must be self-motivated individuals who can understand technical concepts, have good communication skills, and able and willing to collaborate on technical items with the larger team. Candidates should be familiar with the good development and configuration management practices and have previous development experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Typically requires bachelor’s degree and five to seven years of related experience.

Required:

  • Five plus years of experience with full life-cycle software development (analysis, design, development, test, deployment, maintenance)

  • Java, JDBC, multi-threaded code

  • Web services (SOAP, REST, etc…)

  • Display technology and User Interface development

  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems

  • Database Management Systems and SQL

  • Software configuration management processes / tools

Desired:

  • Experience with Messaging and/or ESB Technologies

  • Experience with Java Swing

  • Experience with Spring and Web framework development

  • Experience with LDAP

  • Experience with Map technologies and services

  • Experience in virtualized operations and deployment

  • Experience with mission management/planning systems

  • Experience with git version control system

  • Currency with latest development technologies and application

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
