HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Director of Planning in Austin, Texas

Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Strategic Planning, The Director of Planning is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the creation of the strategic plan that supports the mission, vision, and goals of HCA and the Division. In partnership with the facilities, develops new programs and services that increase market penetration and expand the geographic area for medical services in the Austin and El Paso markets. Through the use of database systems, analysis, modeling and project management skills, delivers value added market intelligence and decision support for optimal portfolio management and market growth opportunities.

Coordinate and prepare division strategic plans and corresponding facility business plans.

  • Conduct a comprehensive market assessment and incorporate collective input from facilities and senior executives as part of the process to create the strategic plan.

  • Create and develop timelines, quantifiable targets and ownership that enables plan tracking and execution.

  • Assist other departments and operating entities in the development of their own business plans, marketing plans and capital requests.

  • Develop effective presentation materials and communicate the strategic plan to Senior Management.

  • Constantly evaluate the strategic plan quality, process and deliverables to ensure performance excellence, while exceeding key stakeholder expectations.

  • Develop a process to track and report performance to plan across the division, using project management software (Mede Project Management, etc.) on a monthly basis.

Perform research on behalf of Partnership for strategic planning and service line development.

  • Maintain planning databases to be used for market and strategic planning as needed.
  • Develop and implement tools that streamline analytics and reporting using business intelligence software such as Tableau, etc.

  • Maintain market intelligence on local and regional health care providers.

  • Prepare and communicate various standard reports on a periodic basis.

  • Carry out general research on behalf of senior management in a timely and accurate manner.

Perform financial analyses, modeling and decision support.

  • Utilize various databases and leveragebusiness intelligence tools such as Tableau, etc., to perform business analysis and effectively communicate opportunities that increase market penetration and expand the geographic area for medical services.

  • Create, develop and maintain various models that analyze market share, portfolio optimization and growth opportunities. These models are developed with high quality and include attributes such as volumes, financials, sensitivity analysis and scenario planning.

  • Developand create maps, using mapping software (esri, etc.) to illustrate geographic opportunities.

  • Create compelling presentation materials that articulate key opportunities and challenges, and effectively communicate recommendations.

    Expert knowledge of principles of healthcare planning both from a conceptual framework, as well as projecting trends that will affect the organizations and individuals. Working knowledge in principles of economics, demographics and survey research. Demonstrated proficient skills in database management, systems, business intelligence software, project management software, advanced Excel applications, and the creation of senior level presentations. Must have the ability to synthesize key issues and distill extensive information down to key salient points. Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and oral, and partner with individuals at all levels of the Division, Group and Corporate.     • EXPERIENCE *

    Required

  • Must have three (3) years of progressively more responsible experience in strategic planning, business development, financial analysis, information systems, project management or consulting in a healthcare services setting.

  • Demonstrated proficient skills in database management, systems, business intelligence software, project management software, advanced Excel applications, and the creation of senior level presentations.

    Preferred

  • Five (5)yearsof progressively more responsible experience in strategic planning, business development, financial analysis, information systems, project management or consulting in a healthcare services setting.

  • Demonstrated proficient skills in database management, systems, business intelligence software (Tableau), project management software (Mede Performance Management), mapping tools (esri), advanced Excel applications, and the creation of senior level presentations.

  • Experience partnering with physicians and administrators on healthcare service line programmatic development.
