HCA, Hospital Corporation of America RN - Surgery Services / Trauma Dept - FT - Nights (Sign-On & Relocation Bonus) in Austin, Texas
Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on an assigned unit in a safe and proficient manner according to individual patient needs. Provides direct patient care based upon South Austin Medical Center Hospital Standards of Care and Standards of Practice, Polices, Procedures and Practice Guidelines. Provides guidance and supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Unit Secretaries. He/she acts as patient and advocate with the Hospital environment. Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities and accepts assignments on other units when necessary.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Required : Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Minimum one year of experience in operating room or outpatient surgery environment. Preferred : Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree. Some experience in PACU.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Required: Licensed by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Current certification as BLS Healthcare Provider Preferred: CNOR
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Demonstrates effective working knowledge of equipment used in work area.
Demonstrates effective guest relations with internal and external customers.
Demonstrates knowledge of Meditech and general computer skills.
Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information.
Participates in budget control by using only those supplies necessary within the work area.
Demonstrate an understanding of HCA's and St. David's "Patient First" safety initiatives through strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
Works autonomously, sets priorities and makes decisions of a complex nature
Works with patients ranging in life span from infants to geriatric.
