Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Transportation Project Manager with a mix of management, engineering, business development, and client service experience for immediate employment in the Austin, TX office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate successful management of public sector transportation projects. Join a team of experienced transportation civil engineers designing major and municipal roadways. As part of the highway design team, you will have the opportunity to lead roadway design projects and follow through with the construction for major and municipal roadways. Additionally, the successful candidate could be assigned as a major Task Leader on a design build project.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise work for a staff of professionals and technicians, including subconsultants

  • Schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering for mostly large scope roadway design projects

  • May develop and evaluate project plans and criteria for a variety of roadway or intersection projects

  • Verifies that applicable codes, engineering standards and environmental commitments are being met

  • Reviews and approves scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments

  • Tracks overall financial performance of task assignment, which includes coordinating with the project manager to monitor sold time and work backlog on task

  • Facilitate project decisions regarding technical approaches and strategies, issue resolution and solutions, cost and scheduling performance

  • Organize and conduct internal, external and client meetings

  • Actively involved with clients and business development including proposal assistance

  • Delegates work to, mentors, trains and supervises less experienced staff to complete assignments

  • Participates in public meetings and presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Transportation Engineering

  • 10+ years of relevant project experience, including 8+ years of Schematic and PS&E design experience, and 5+ years of TxDOT experience

  • Professional Engineer in the State of Texas

  • Ability to work on demanding design build projects including light travel

  • Capable of using design software and models to solve complex issues

  • Proficient with TxDOT Design Standards

  • Experienced with proposal development, client presentations and relationship development

  • Good Communication Skills

  • Valid driver's license

  • Demonstrated success in achieving scope, schedule, and budget goals on a large-scale transportation project

  • MicroStation and Geopak proficient

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years' experience preferred

  • Third party coordination management experience (such as public utilities, transit agencies, or other agencies having jurisdiction within a given client project corridor)

  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control compliance experience in a senior capacity

  • Multiple TxDOT precertifications in Route Studies and Schematic Design, Multi-level Interchanges, Major and Complex Roadway Design, and basic Hydraulic Design
