Country Buyer - Indirect Material & Services - 035135

Location: Germany

Essential Functions :

  • Drives strategic suppliers, defines local strategy in Germany for our Indirect Material and Services Team focusing on all categories

  • Leverages and negotiates contracts and programs for defined local categories cooperating with strategic suppliers in a way that fully satisfy stakeholder requirements to reduce the total cost of material & services or eliminate inflationary pressures through validated cost avoidance actions

  • Develops framework to ensure consistent approach is deployed across all business / sites, including category strategies that meets cost, time and quality requirements

  • Acts as a primary business partner for senior management and Indirect Team on site

  • Serves as a key knowledge resource to determine best practice solutions across local organization in fields of focus, appropriate to the scope of the role.

  • Where suitable regional solutions / supplier partners exist, focus will be in change management, implementation & compliance. Where regional solutions do not exist, focus will be determining suitable local solutions

  • Supports standardization & migration processes locally as is feasible considering local environment

  • Improves local program and project process productivity, effectiveness and efficiency

  • Identifies/escalates issues promptly and partners as appropriate to ensure sufficient local sponsorship, support towards a quality delivery of projects

  • Provides accurate and timely reporting of performance and activities aligned to annual goals/targets

  • Manages local supplier partner relationships as appropriate to build effective support and category impact, maintaining a highly ethical and transparent approach to “doing business right”

  • Creates long term local supplier partner relationships that lead to optimal price reductions, quality improvements, process improvements, and on time delivery performance.

  • Consolidates major purchases to negotiate and secure the best possible sourcing and procurement agreements


  • Possesses strong negotiation and supplier management skills

  • Functional SCM knowledge & experience – 5-7 years minimum

  • University Degree - Post Qualification/further education desirable

  • Ability to develop and negotiate effective commercial contracts on behalf of Eaton

  • Ability to develop & deploy a framework to standardize processes & ensure consistent deployment

  • Sufficiently understands technical specifications, product / service performance requirements, processes (manufacturing & non-manufacturing), and end user expectations

  • Proven ability to interface confidently at Senior Management Level

  • Fluent German & English skills required - other languages advantageous

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrable continued personal development both in technical and behavioral competency
