Job Description

Bartlett, TN - The RA Technician Level IV is responsible for performing failure analysis and evaluation of returned product complaints. The incumbent will ensure investigation is completed in a timely manner and clearly identifies findings as they relate to the customer complaint. He/She will perform duties and responsibilities independently for routine assignments and leads less experienced staff in investigation process. The incumbent performs timely closure of product complaint files in accordance with established procedures. He/She provides support in the continuous improvement effort of the MSG quality system for processing complaints in order to meet FDA, ISO and all applicable international regulatory requirements, and corporate guidelines. Job Duties:

  • Work independently on root cause investigations for multiple product types on product complaints, potential MDRs, and MDRs.

  • Mentor less experienced RA Technicians providing guidance and final determination of root cause investigations and processing of complaints.

  • Prepare and ship parts and product to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for further investigation.

  • Monitor and support less experienced staff members to ensure shipping activities are performed in a accurate and timely manner.

  • Participate in cross functional teams, and project teams providing troubleshooting and technical expertise for these activities.

  • Work with internal and external department members to identify areas of improvement in the complaint handling and service process.

  • Document investigation findings into the complaint handling system in accordance with established work instructions.

  • Provide guidance to less experienced technicians on documenting investigation findings.

  • Train RA technicians on new product lines, troubleshooting, and complaint handling process.

  • Support the administrative staff in the processing of complaints.

  • Close complaint files as necessary to ensure the timely processing of complaints in order to achieve department complaint closure goals.

  • Team up with engineering staff performing onsite and offsite in depth complex investigations to resolve customer complaints, and identify root cause of emerging issues.

  • Monitor products to be investigated to ensure complaints are processed based on priority guidelines in accordance with established work instructions.

  • Decontaminate incoming product prior to it being routed through the complaint handling process.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


  • High School Degree or equivalent is required; Associate's Degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in troubleshooting medical devices is required.

  • Must be computer literate with good working knowledge of all MS Office applications and Lotus Notes.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.

  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.

  • Must be able to provide leadership and guidance to other team members.

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
