Verizon Project Manager - Agile Coach in Basking Ridge, New Jersey

What you’ll be doing...

This position requires an individual with previous experience in Agile Transformation initiatives who can influence change and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. This Agile Coach Mgr(ACM) will be responsible for supporting agile transformation and drive the delivery of strategic products and services efficiently and effectively. A significant portion of this role will be influencing change in regards to the Agile model as well as programs that contain integration with waterfall based applications. The ACM collaborates and negotiates with product teams & stakeholders to break down silos - actively removing impediments and providing the team with the tools and environment needed to succeed.

The Agile Coach Mgr is responsible for coaching teams assiged to multiple projects working closely with the Product teams/ScrumMasters using the the Lean Busness Agility Process and for coaching strategic product development for a portfolio of solutions The ACM works closely with a team of Product/Portfolio owners, Certified ScrumMasters, and has industry coaching experience.The ACM collaborates with product teams to break down silos - actively removing impediments and providing the team with the tools and environment needed to succeed.

Responsibilities

Provide Expert Agile Coaching to the Product/Portfolio Teams in Support of the Lean Business Agility Process

  • Advocate the Lean Business Agility framework, Lean Product Development deliverables and culture

  • Act as an adoption/transformation guide for Agile implementation at

enterprise product levels

  • Coach Agile Program team members to facilitate program level backlog refinement activities- Provide guidance, coaching, and assistance to teams and their ScrumMasters- Provide coaching to Program Managers and Stable Team ScrumMasters

  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers to understand and manage priorities

  • Provide support to the Program Owner and other LBA Program Leads and ScrumMasters

Support the Product Development Process Strategy & Training

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and management

-Provide support and topics for LBA training and development

-Actively contribute to Verizon’s Agile and Lean Community through participation in the internal Agile Community of Practice

Maintain Relevant Agile Metrics & Reporting KPIs

  • Coach individual Program and Product Owners, ScrumMasters, and Big Team members to establish plans and goals for each project

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or six or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience as a process/project manager or Agile coach

Even better if you have:

  • 5+ years as a process/project manager or Agile coach.

  • PMP, CSM, CSP, SA preferred.

  • Knowledgeable of the effective process steps needed to execute a Lean Product Development value work stream successfully across multiple projects and deliver business value early.

  • Strong background in project management.

  • Strong leadership skills to lead, coach, and motivate successful project teams.

  • Experience with Agile project planning, execution, and process improvement principles.

Technical Skills

  1. Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development

  2. Understand other processes and methodologies (e.g. waterfall, classical lifecycle management, etc) and can speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise

  3. Understand basic fundamentals of product development processes and procedures

  4. Understand the value of team commitments to delivery made by a scrum team

  5. Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics

  6. Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition7.Familiarity with common Lean, Agile, and Design Thinking practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices
