Verizon Senior Business Operations Analyst in Basking Ridge, New Jersey

What you’ll be doing...

This is a cross-functional program management opportunity in the Technology Talent & Culture team.

You will be working across IT & Network technology organizations, in partnership with various HR departments, to plan, orchestrate and execute on our Campus Program – an important talent on-boarding and development program among 3 main audiences: interns, college hires, and the Verizon Leadership Development Program (VLDP) participants and alumni. You will make an impact on these talents on the first day they join Verizon and help set them up for success.

From program logistics – internal and external – to vendor and budget coordination, prepping of and communications to event participants, and results tracking and analysis, you will have ownership of key program events. You will ensure the program is delivered on time, on budget, and achieves the set goals.

You will influence and develop relationships with Program participants, stakeholders, and sponsors including senior leaders. You will actively look for best practices within and outside of Verizon technology organizations and bring new ideas to the group to keep evolving the program.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Partner with points of contacts from HR (Talent Acquisition, University Strategy, Human Resources Business Partners, and Learning & Development), IT, and Network to ensure seamless, favorable, cohesive experiences among different program audiences: IT-interns, new college hires, new and existing VLDPs and VLDP.

  • Plan and execute large-scale events such as annual College Hires kick-off, various internal and external student hackathons, interview days that involve coordination with hundreds of interviewers/interviewees, and diversity events.

  • Manage the Campus Program’s full-year development calendar from webinars to various regular program meetings, mentor circles across campuses, informal networking events, and other development projects. Identify relevant technology/business topics and speakers. Manage the communication, promotion, and execution of the events.

  • Specifically with VLDP, you will drive the execution of planned, continuous improvements to the Program. You will develop and deliver communications and training for the managers of VLDP participants, and provide logistics support to the VLDP participants throughout their rotation assignments.

  • Set up regular communications cadence with Program participants to track program status and address and pre-empt logistical issues.

  • Support and partner with HR in strategic IT talent recruitment and brand building initiatives among industry events, diversity recruitment events, and college recruitment events. The work includes conference/program planning, selection and coordination with IT leaders on speaking opportunities, volunteer communications and coordination, and event execution.

  • Specifically with diversity recruitment events, coordinate with external partners such as Grace Hopper, Society of Women Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship in New York and others.

  • Also proactively seek out opportunities to link to and collaborate with Verizon Foundation to maximize overall impact in attracting and growing a diverse IT workforce.

  • Coordinate quotes, invoices, and payments with vendors and internal finance teams to ensure the team stays on budget and the vendors provide effective delivery of services.

  • Provide weekly program status to various teams and constituencies. Flag issues, identify action items, and follow-up on results.

  • Seek out benchmark information and best practices in IT talent on-boarding and development. Present your observations and new ideas to the team in a compelling way and get buy-in.
