Job Description

The role is frontline commercial role in a start-up context. In it, you will be expected to build profitable relationships with key supply (& in time potentially with demand accounts), and deliver gross margin targets. There will be an emphasis on originating innovative deals that embed optionality and realise desired exposures. Given the pace of market developments, you will need to be agile, adaptive and possessed of a strong work ethic.


This role will include:

(a) Developing and maintaining direct relationships with counterparties across China, including managing deal execution. Counterparties may include Project owners/Developers, local Regulators (with support from Government Relations), Exchanges, Compliance entities or other Intuitional investors.

(b) To be a specialist on the global Offsets markets; thoroughly understanding the rules, regulations, trends and project pipelines for different types & qualities of offsets. Offset types include but are not limited to CCERs’, CERs as well as Voluntary credits such as the VCS and CCB standards.

(c) Identifying opportunities to purchase high quality Carbon offsets, both primary and secondary, from projects throughout China.

(d) Embedding optionality into CCER supply projects and then working with internal stakeholders to get it supported.

(e) Oversee performance of new and existing Offset projects/pipelines including the CDM portfolio (China only).

(f) Supporting Trader in concluding structured deals and working closely with the wider CO2 team to execute trades.

You will primarily be responsible for meeting targets for Gross Margin, with an emphasis on material and sustainable contributions. You will be working in a rapidly evolving business area, often in challenging regulatory and legal environments.

The position calls for a self-motivated, entrepreneurial and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure and with limited direct supervision.
