Our Laboratory Chemicals business has exceptional growth potential. Laboratory Chemicals was built from several acquisitions and provides a full range of analytical reagents and discovery chemicals to Thermo Fisher’s core research markets worldwide. Laboratory Chemicals has been identified as a strategic growth area for the company with expansion opportunities in the US, Europe and developing markets, particularly Asia. Laboratory Chemicals has 14 operational facilities in the US, Europe, and Asia, and sells a significant portion of its products through Thermo Fisher customers channels group in major Western markets.
Responsible for the day to day operations of the warehouse to include receiving, put-away, processing returned goods, inventory control, shipping, and supervision of warehouse staff. The Warehouse Supervisor assigns union and non-union employees appropriate jobs in the department, ensures SOP compliance in all areas, follows the established union labor agreement, ensures a safe work environment, and adheres to DOT regulations for all inbound and outbound shipments.
Provide strong leadership to the warehouse area in daily interaction with the ability to assign work to employees in a clear, effective manner
Manage the inbound and outbound shipments, the put-away stocking strategies within the warehouse, and the schedules of direct reports
Support and lead the company’s efforts in Practical Process Improvement, LEAN, standard work, 5S and ongoing projects
Analyze and extract data to track, communicate, maintain and drive Key Performance Indicators towards excellence
Must partner with cross functional teams to drive safety, quality, delivery and cost initiatives
Bachelor’s degree require (Engineering discipline preferred).
A minimum of 5 years managing logistics operations.
Previous experience managing pick and pack operations.
A minimum of 2 years working in a Continuous Improvement (PPI, Six Sigma and/or Lean) environment.
Knowledge of DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations as well as the ability to quickly learn company SOPs and Department Operating Procedures (DOP).
Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
Possess a continuous process improvement mindset with the ability to effectively lead and manage change.
Ability to effectively supervise and lead in a union environment.
Proficient in excel, word, power point, and AS400.
Proven success in leading safety programs and working in a safety first environment.
