Job Description

The GIS Advisor is responsible for the population, maintenance and support of the GIS Master Database and associated tools, services, automations and technologies. This role will specifically maintain a focus on data quality and reports directly to the Lead GIS Advisor - Data Quality and is a great opportunity to lead input from your specialist area into the planning of projects.

To be effective in this role you will need to engage with the business on spatial data requirements, and critically source, QA and load data into the GIS Master Database. Responsible for contributing to the development of the corporate GIS Master Database, GIS Data Dictionary and GIS Capture Standard to provide the business with complete, accurate, timely and high quality GIS data.

To be successful will require proactive stakeholder management with internal and external business partners, contractors and constructors to improve the provision of GIS data for entry into the GIS Master Database.

Key to the delivery of the role will be identifying, implementing and managing new quality tools to improve GIS processes and business needs, such as the Data Load Tool and environmental reporting tools. You will need to be able to seek, identify and implement efficiencies and business improvements for the delivery of products, services and technologies across the Data Quality team.

Requirements

The major part of this role will be around significant attention to detail and QA experience including managing version control and change management, to ensure high quality GIS products and services. You should have experience using initiative to identify potential projects, efficiencies and subsequent solutions - such as the development of automated GIS processes, tools and can take significant responsibility and autonomy in the planning and implementation of solutions.

Equally key for this role will be demonstrated experience in a GIS role specialising in data quality, mobile GIS experience - specifically ESRI ArcGIS Collector, GIS data management and spatial analysis. Your Degree should be in GIS, Surveying or similar. Experience producing cartographic products, carrying out spatial analysis and database management using industry standard GIS tools (experience with ESRI ArcGIS, Safe FME and similar software packages at an advanced level) is essential for the role.

A good level of analytical and problem solving skills with strong verbal and written communication skills is required along with superior level computing skills. A self-starter with abundance of energy and enthusiasm with an attention to detail and the understanding of the importance of on time and critical data quality will be highly advantageous. You will need experience operating in a fast paced, time pressured, service orientated environment and the ability to be able to apply a creative approach to problem solving and understanding of the application of new technologies. The role is based in Brisbane, but some site travel may be required.
