Eaton Lean & Six Sigma (ELSS) Manager

Location: COULD BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IN EMEA

Primary Function:

Lead the Operational Excellence function including Continuous Improvement and Logistics Performance Improvement (LPI) support, primarily for the Electrical Sector in the EMEA region. Responsible for developing and supporting operational and logistics plans (Eaton Lean Six Sigma, Cost Out …) that aligns with the needs and goals of the different Electrical Sector businesses.

Strong leadership and influencing skills in order to drive and achieve improvement goals and targets through self and others. Hands on approach to achieve goals and targets and is seen as being part of the team by the different Electrical Sector businesses.

Ensures the team leads engagement activity with Business Sector covering all aspects logistics performance and 3rd party provider activities. Build organizational capability with regards to ELSS. Identifies and develops functional and leadership talent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Champion the ELSS and LPI activities within EMEA. Support annual assessments with qualifying sites. Identify with divisional & site management appropriate action plans for smaller operational and distribution facilities.

  • Responsible for working with Sector, Businesses and Plant leadership in identifying high-priority areas for improvement in order to ensure ELSS efforts are aligned to and fully support profit Plan and Strategic Plan goals and ensure all cost savings “hit the bottom line”, using EBS tools including EBS Pull, Integrated Deck Building, Cost Out Database, etc.

  • Responsible for sustaining the results achieved through follow-up reviews, monthly reporting of bottom line cost savings in alignment with Controlling, Cost Out Database and Encore.

  • Responsible for execution of the key breakthrough continuous improvement projects (key needle mover projects) within the specified area of responsibility, including the achievement of stretch performance goals.

  • Responsible for the development of Six Sigma statistical tools competence and resource as required by the businesses in the region.

  • Ongoing mentoring, evaluation and development of sector lean coordinators, plant lean coordinators, tool champions & experts against the ELSS Functional Competencies.

  • Coordinate and support the facilitation of a top-level training/ program on all elements of the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF), Six Sigma and Lean tools. Ensure that tools, resources and instructional materials are developed, updated as necessary and maintained to meet ongoing needs. Establish and maintain a library of detailed standard work documentation for running kaizen workshops.

  • Monitor the progress of the implementation, through sub regional lean councils and appropriate key-performance-indicators (KPIs). Identify & promote Best-Practices within EMEA and the Global Community. Conduct research focused on benchmarking world-class performance and utilize finds to recommend stretch targets to EMEA senior leadership.

  • In conjunction with the Distribution Operations function, support the Logistics and supply chain improvement activities (including 3rd party providers) – ensuring target setting and monthly reporting tools are in place and reported through to Sector Supply Chain Team.

Qualifications

Qualiffications:

  • The ability to identify applicable Lean tools in the given business environment and deploy them in an appropriate manner through hands on Kaizen events.

  • The ability to see Lean tools as part of the Continuous Improvement Framework.

  • Current Lean Tool set: Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Pull System, Standardized Work, 5S, TPM, Setup Reduction and Error Proofing.

  • To have the knowledge of a wide range of problem solving tools & methods, including statistics, combined with the ability to select and apply them to make data based decisions to sustain higher levels of process or product quality.

  • To be able to facilitate development and deployment of enterprise-wide ELSS and Logistics Improvement strategies, resulting in implementation plans with SMART goals that are linked to business strategy and profit plans.

  • To be able to develop and implement effective training plans and mentoring for all levels of the organization that helps develop and sustain a lean culture.

  • University Degree or equivalent in engineering/manufacturing, technical or related field. MBA or equivalent highly desirable.

  • 10+ years of experience with progressive levels of responsibility in manufacturing necessary, international experience would be a significant advantage.

  • Six Sigma/Red X/Statistical Quality tools experience highly desirable and an appreciation of Quality management systems and Materials Management systems would be a significant advantage.

  • Must demonstrate financial acumen, strategic ability, strong business acumen, and strong change leadership capabilities.

  • A fluent and highly articulate communicator with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.

  • The candidate should be a certified expert in all Lean, Six Sigma and Manufacturing Excellence tools and processes, experience in Logistics and material flow improvements, will have a strong work ethic, will strive for performance excellence and have the ability to drive change and influence others.

  • The candidate will have experience in managing change and building a strong lean culture.

  • A fluent and highly articulate communicator with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
