United Rentals Product Development Sales Associate - Tools in Cambridge, Ontario

The Tools Product Development Sales Associate (TPDSA) - Tool Solutions Region acts as a liaison with National Account Managers, Government Account Managers, Strategic Account Managers, and Sales Representatives from all Company business units. The TPDSA is also a subject matter tools expert who provides consultative selling, training for internal customers, and sales project support to customers for new and existing tool product lines. The TPDSA educates other United Rentals business units on all Tool Solutions products and applications. The purpose of the position is to drive incremental profitable tool rental revenue and increased market share for the designated territory through lead sharing and trade area cooperation.

The TPDSA partners with the Branch Manager, business unit branches, local Sales Reps, Strategic, National and Government Account Managers in assigned areas to drive incremental tools & industrial revenue. The TPDSA uses a variety of techniques to ensure knowledge of products and solutions are being provided as required. The TPDSA will also accompany Sales Representatives, as subject matter expert, on more complex sales calls and assist sales representatives in selecting the proper tool solutions to provide the customer with the most cost effective savings.

The TPDSA will also be responsible for product training and support through:

  • Developing & conducting Tool Solutions training to create awareness to drive growth and market share

  • Conducting ongoing product training to internal and external customers as needed

  • Providing support for larger, more complex projects that require solutions based selling

  • Mentoring Sales Representatives and service staff on Tool Solutions applications and processes

    Other Requirements:

  • Uses SalesForce.Com and other tools to provide business intelligence to sales team

  • Acts as Tool subject matter expert resource to sales team

  • Works closely with corporate sales/business intelligence; assist in providing leads to sales representatives using SFDC, Dodge, PEC and other information tools

  • Uses data tools to identify large customer projects capital and maintenance such as industrial plants, power plants, refineries etc. early in the project timeline

  • Provides monthly activity reports from SFDC to RSMD/DNA/DSM/DM field distribution

  • Provides direction and support for Marketing in areas such as: Trade Shows, Telemarketing, Mailers, Data Base, Print Advert, Trade Associations

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred

  • Six months of inside sales or operations management experience, or one year experience in a sales-related role

  • Proven planning, problem-solving, communication and negotiation skills

  • At least one year of experience using Microsoft Office

  • Proven presentation skills and a sales orientation

  • A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
