AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Emergency Planner in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will provide professional all-hazards (e.g., natural phenomena, radiological, terrorism) emergency planning support for the Emergency Management and Security Department at the U.S. Department of Energy Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. This position will implement, integrate, and maintain emergency management and continuity programs in compliance with DOE Order 151.1C/D, Comprehensive Emergency Management System, and DOE O 151.1A, Continuity Programs. This includes developing, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining site emergency management plans, response procedures, and other emergency-related documents. The position will develop emergency management-related presentations, briefings, trainings, and reports. The position will interview subject matter experts, research requirements and other material to become familiar with a process or product, and compile and logically organize information to be included in emergency plans and procedures. The position will maintain an effective interface with both internal and external stakeholders. This position will support the exercise design, planning, conduct and evaluation consistent with U.S. Department of Energy and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program concepts and principles for facility and site-level exercises. This position will develop and review after action reports for drills and exercises and final emergency reports for real events. This position will support program assessments and development of corrective action plans and implementation plans. This position will serve as a member of the on-call Emergency Response Organization. This position will also perform other emergency management and security duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field.
Three (3) years of experience in emergency management (e.g., mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery).
Candidate must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills.
Practical experience and demonstrated proficiency with MS Office is required.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) preferred.
Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center is a plus.
Experience working at a Department of Energy site or facility.
Previous WIPP experience is preferred.
