Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Technical Trainer develops live and online training courses and modules; manages and mentors a team of trainers to develop curricula and present courses; works with Field and Review managers to ascertain training needs; obtains technical training data; schedules programs; conducts live and online training; drafts training policies and schedules; oversees and reviews the development of teaching aids, training manuals, reference materials, and updates and announcements for Field Investigators and Reviewers.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

Supervise the New Investigator and Reviewer Training Academy team.

Conduct live and online training courses for Field Investigators and Reviewers.

Work with field and review managers to identify training needs and establish course specifications and prerequisite skills.

Design and develop live and online technical training programs and curricula on various software and hardware applications and systems.

Research and write technical and user manuals to support training.

Work with corporate IT and outside vendors on technical support for training programs and applications.

Review and update training materials such as student handouts, lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and practical exercises to reflect OPM-approved revisions to Field Investigator and Reviewer job requirements.

Create and analyze course evaluations to determine effectiveness of training programs and courses.

Review external training programs to determine feasibility of purchase.

Prepare and participate in operational tests and training material validation.

Prepare recommendations and reports to senior level management.

Travel to remote locations to conduct training and work on training-related issues, as required.

Required Qualifications:

Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent and seven to nine years of related experience. Must be proficient in using Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must have strong organizational skills to plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate training programs and office projects.

Desired Qualifications:

Curriculum development and adult education experience. Experience developing learning content for live delivery and learning management systems. Demonstrated experience creating and evaluating assessments for measuring learning and performance improvements. Supervisory experience. Background Investigator or Reviewer experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required. May spend a lot of time standing due to classroom conditions.
