Bank of America Information Security Systems Engineering & Development Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description:

Bank of America is seeking a highly motivated Information Security Engineer to join our Global Information Security team in a full-time position. This role is focused on providing hands-on operational deployment and support for commercial and custom software applications.

You will be an individual contributor responsible for researching, implementing, and supporting several applications within the Information Security teams. Your

primary duties include leveraging detail oriented process management, application of enterprise policies to the environment, providing recommendations based on security and infrastructure of the environment, supporting development efforts and/or vendor relationships, preparing and responding to audit items and cycles, ensuring operational stability and integrity of the solutions managed by the team.

This position may require direct application administration and troubleshooting, and controls management. Participation in application life cycle management, from design and improve as well as requirements gathering and enhancement prioritization. Periodic audits of application security and validation of user rights and access management will also be required. The successful candidate must be willing to take rotational on-call duties as required.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Systems Engineering and Deployment experience. (3 to 5 years minimum)

  • Strong understanding of large networks and systems and the interaction between applications, infrastructures, etc.

  • Proficient in Windows and Linux access systems.

  • Proficient with IIS and MS SQL

  • Must be able to identify, analyze and address problems to resolve issues whenever possible in way that minimizes negative impact and risk to the organization

  • Understanding of Change and/or Incident Management processes

  • Ability to work independently on initiatives with little oversight.

  • Motivated and willing to learn.

  • Understanding of Agile projects, roles, and development support

  • Understanding of Software Development Life-cycle

  • Strong written & verbal skills combined with a passion for collaboration and teamwork.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field

  • Strong analytical skills/problem solving/conceptual thinking

  • Ability to work with Technical and Non Technical business owners

  • Assist with internal efficiencies projects and development

  • Network architecture and troubleshooting, focused on switching and monitoring.

  • Intermediate database administration experience and knowledge of MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, and/or postgres query syntax

  • Previous Bank of America Experience or other large financial institution experience.

  • SANS GIAC and MCSE (Windows Server or SQL Server) certifications are a big plus.

  • Scripting and automation with Visual Basic, Perl, or PowerShell in a DevOps environment

Enterprise Role Overview:

Key individual contributor, with accountability for researching, designing, engineering, implementing, and supporting information security & directory technology systems (software & hardware). Utilizes in-depth technical knowledge and business requirements to design & implement secure solutions to meet customer / client needs while protecting the Bank's assets. Develops and implements security standards, procedures, and guidelines for multiple platforms and diverse environment (e.g. client server, distributed, mainframe, etc.). Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Typically 5-7 years of IT experience.
