Primary Role

Primary Role: The Principal Business Process Consultant is a crucial enabler of business process improvement within one or more lines of business. They apply the skills of business process consulting and technology enablement to lead learning and change within an organization. More than a project manager, the Principal Business Process Consultant provides leadership that builds commitment and understanding required to accomplish the improvement goals for a line of business.

At American Water, our Principal Business Process Consultant(s) is a critical partner in our Technology & Innovation Department, they perform detailed analysis on basic and complex issues surrounding a business processes within the organization and engage in the constructive change process from conception and implementation to transfer of ownership. The primary role is to provide the synergy for making breakthrough improvements possible by leveraging innovative technology while acting as a catalyst for business process owners and process improvement teams to achieve defined objectives.

This position support our NorthEast Division.

  • Requirements:*

  • 4+ years’ experience required providing business process analysis for large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams with an additional 2+ years focused on business process excellence and technology optimization.

  • Demonstrated experience as a Process Manager or Consultant in an Agile environment is required.

  • Exposure to SAP or large ERP systems is required (SAP, Oracle).

  • Practical experience leveraging Lean / Six Sigma concepts is required.

  • Experience in utility industry is highly desired or other highly regulated industry.

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems or similar technology field is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools.

  • Strong knowledge of business process modeling solutions, e.g., ARIS.

  • Exposure to Hadoop, Smart Grid technologies, Big Data, Analytics, Metrics, is preferred

  • Certified Business Process Professional [CBPP] certification preferred

Positions are full-time and are located in our Cherry Hill, NJ facility. Travel is required (50-70%). Relocation may be considered.
