This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for an Event Management Specialist.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Supports the marketing or marketing communications team through planning, executing, monitoring, and measuring internal and external events.

  • Contributes to the overall success of the marketing or marketing communications team; leads event plans and budgets for review by manager; Leads the organization of events that represent Cummins corporate values in the local level.

  • Leads the organization of events such as trade shows, customer events, sales training, etc. ; provides onsite management of logistics.

  • Arranges appropriate Cummins representatives for speaking and customer contact at events.

  • Has an awareness of the latest trends in technology and other tools for event presentations and displays and implements into event plans.

  • Collects data for success metrics and prepares reports.

  • Presents results to manager.

  • Collects and responds to customer leads from events.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with event vendors such travel, convention center, exhibit agency, display builders, and gift vendors.

  • Understands the Cummins brand image and works to appropriately and consistently represent the brand at events; develops and proposes appropriate graphics to support event messaging; works with colleagues across business units to deliver consistent, cohesive messages.

  • Monitors individual event budgets and monitors expenditures; reports on budget status to manager.

  • Identifies risks to success and elevates issues as necessary.

  • Participates in continuous improvement processes and implements process changes to improve event management processes.

  • Coordinates and complies with regulatory requirements related to moving products in and out of country for events (30%).

  • May coach and mentor less experienced event management specialists.



Develop And Execute Promotion Plans - Able to work with advertising professionals to formulate a message, develop collateral in support of Marketing programs or Marketing initiatives and deploy the message to promote (Promotion part of 4Ps) the sale of a product.

Develop Communication Plans - Knowledge of current communication methods. Able to provide input into the communication plan.

Event Planning And Management - Knows the steps involved in the management of an event. Provides input into the management of an event. Works or assists someone in the preparation of an event.

Public Relations - Understands what public relations is. Directs press, public, or external sources to correct contact person.

Brand Management - Follows the standards of brand management. Brand management includes developing a brand strategy that drives market leadership.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, or related subject required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base annual salary commensurate with experience plus annual variable compensation. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
