Product Validation Engineer Turbo and Exhaust System

Description

This position applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the development and release of new Turbochargers and Exhaust Systems.

Assists in creating design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service. Verifies design using analysis and or functional testing, interprets results, drives decisions and assesses risk.

Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues. Evaluates customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations.

Uses prescribed and innovative methods, and works with limited guidance.

Participates as a team member and actively contributes towards team goals.

Carries out partially defined and moderately complex tasks.

Demonstrates good understanding and applies knowledge of an engineering discipline.

Applies engineering and/or scientific skills and continues to develop experience in creating engineering solutions.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluates customer needs and assists in creating new product design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service. Verifies subsystems robustness using analysis and functional testing, interpreting results, driving risk assessments and making technical decisions.

  • Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional groups to resolve product issues prior to launch.

  • Participates as a team member and actively contributes towards team goals.

Qualifications and Competencies

Skills

  • Project Management - Has a good understanding of and effectively applies project management techniques to multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Technical Requirements Management – Able to create design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacturing, assembly and service.

  • Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (DFMEA) - Able to update existing or create new product DFMEAs. Able to lead a cross-functional team through the all aspects of the iDFMEA process (boundary diagram, functional analysis, P-diagram, and the DFMEA with the help of a specialist if needed)

  • Product Validation Test Planning - Understands the purpose, content and steps in developing / managing a product validation test plan.

  • Product Problem Solving – Knowledge of problem solving processes (7 Step, 8D, FTAs, Fishbone diagrams, etc…). Is able to lead cross functional teams through the process of solving complex or critical problems.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering required.

Experience

  • Minimal relevant work experience desired, such as internship, co-op, or other pertinent work experience required.

  • Previous experience or knowledge of Turbochargers, Exhaust Systems or Internal Combustion Engines not required but desired.
