Denver Radiation Oncology at Rose Cancer Center is a leading program delivering some of the most advanced radiation therapy options in the state of Colorado. Radiation oncology is a minimally invasive treatment utilizing high energy radiation to treat abnormal cells. In most cases, radiation is used to treat cancer, but other types of conditions may be treated as well. Radiation oncology is often used in conjunction with other types of therapies, such as chemotherapy and surgery. With advances in imaging technology, our oncology team is now better able to more precisely determine the site of the tumor—minimizing the effect on surrounding tissue.
Position Summary: The/Radiation Oncology Secretary/supports the mission of Rose Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Under the supervision of the department coordinator/manager, the secretary performs the scheduling of the new patients and follow ups; coordinates new patient information, coordinates department mail and correspondence; and performs receptionist and secretarial functions for the department while supporting the organization’s mission, goals, values and ethics. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Special Qualifications: The secretary requires the ability to operate a typewriter/computer with a skill level of 40 wpm, needs to have medical terminology and clerical perception, must maintain a high standard of communication skills, and must maintain constructive interpersonal skills. Other duties will include: • Answering of phone calls throughout day; forwarding them to applicable people • Scheduling consult and follow up appointments for all patients; consults must be within 5 business days unless otherwise requested • Obtaining medical records for consult and follow up appointments via fax or phone/or pulling reports from Meditech utilizing the Intake Form for guidance • Uploading documents into Mosaiq EMR and attaching to patient charts • Launching dictations for Dr. Dorn in Mosaiq • Registering patients for their consult/follow up visit as well as flipping their monthly treatment account- this includes obtaining insurance card/ID and HCA consent, verification of insurance, copays, and deductibles. • Obtaining copays • Faxing physician consultation/follow up and any radiology/lab orders to appropriate office • Stickering documentation for Patient Keeper • Ordering and stocking front office snacks/coffee • Add and review items on Quality Checklist for completion • Obtain pre-authorization for all patients and log in appropriate box • Call and confirm patient appointments for next day
Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Director of Radiation Oncology. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
