Job Summary

The AECOM Detroit Water and Sewer Program Team is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water/Wastewater Engineer, H&H Modeling for immediate employment in the Detroit Michigan office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil Engineering, specific to Sewer Collection Systems and will play an important role on a project to revitalize the water and sewer system for the City of Detroit.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Development and application of a city-wide sewer model on a multi-year capital improvement project

  • Work with the City’s water distribution model

  • Work along-side of some of AECOM’s foremost experts in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, asset management, and engineering planning

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering - preferably Civil or Environmental

  • 2+ years of experience with sewer system modeling and stormwater modeling

  • Familiarity and interest in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with emphasis on SWMM and/or InfoWorks CS/ICM.

  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, etc.)

  • EIT/FE or ability to get within 1 year of employment

  • Strong technical writing skills as well as strong communication skills

  • Ability to present and manipulate data in MS-Excel

  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (ESRI ArcGIS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree

  • PE

  • Proficient with Geographic Information Systems (ESRI ArcGIS) and with water distribution systems

  • Familiarity with Rainfall/Runoff processes and rainfall data analyses

  • Previous experience with InfoWater or other water distribution packages.

  • Ability to manipulate and present data in database management software (Access, SQL Server, Oracle)

  • Programming skills in Visual Basic, Python, C++, MatLab

  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel
