HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Medical Laboratory Tech PRN in Dublin, Georgia

Primary responsibility is the accurate and timely performance of laboratory tests as assigned. In the absence of the Director of Laboratory Services or the Manager of Laboratory Services, the most senior (most years of service) is responsible for the overall operations of the laboratory. This includes providing high quality lab tests, quality control, preventive maintenance of equipment, computer activities, and collection of specimens. Population served: Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. Performs other duties as assigned or necessary. Experience: One year preferred but will consider recent MT graduate.

Education: Must meet at least one of the requirements determined for a Medical Technologists and Clinical Laboratory Scientist by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Rules and Regulations of Clinical Laboratories. Must meet CLIA '88 requirements for the level of testing performed. Special Qualifications: Knowledge of all areas of stat testing in assigned sections. Technical skills to perform all activities involved in lab sections where assigned. Technical skills necessary to direct all activities involved in the lab section(s) he/she is responsible for. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret CAP regulations pertient to assigned section(s) and ensure that these regulations are upheld.
Employees Supervised:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS 1. Receives specimens for laboratory, or obtains blood specimens directly from patient for laboratory analysis. 2. Performs all tests in assigned lab section(s) with the highest possible accuracy and reliability. Trains in additional lab tests or sections as required. 3. Performs all Lab Section activities to include but not limited to: staff training and development, procedure implementation/monitoring, inventory management/control, quality control, performance improvement, proficiency testing, safety administration, productivity monitoring, and public relations. 4. Ability to perform STAT testing in a quick and accurate manner, require multi-tasking skills, sometimes under stressful demands. 5. Works under the direction of the Area Coordinator 6. Performs all related lab computer activities assigned. 7. Will be required to work some weekend, evening, and night shifts as needed by testing volumes. 8. Will be required to work one or more of the major holidays, including New Year's Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. 9. Meet the personal and practical needs of patients and families as described in "Patients First Service". Use appropriate and effective communication skills. Maintains sensitivity to patients age-specific needs and to clients psychosocial, cultural and spiritual need. Adheres to the I-CARE values set forth by Fairview Park Hospital. 10. Accepts accountability for completion of assignments, demonstrates reliability and dependability (including com- pliance with the attendance policy), and utilizes time and materials cost-effectively. 11.
