CACI International Hyperspectral Imagery Scientist in Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Job Description:

Duties and RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Hyperspectral Imagery Scientist will serve as a Senior Spectral Manager for a Brigade sized element with organic HIS collection assets.

  • Duties include but are not limited to advising the command on all aspects of HIS enterprise operations and associated requirements.

Required Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Image Science or Remote Sensing with a minimum of 15 years systems experience within DOD or equivalent with Government agencies required, with 10 years at the operational level.

  • Possess the ability to expertly identify shortcomings and troubleshoot faulty data sets from sensors and atmospheric anomalies after collection.

  • This includes but is not limited to noise suppression, optical turbulence compensation and photometric principle.

  • Provide expert sensor calibration recommendations to sensor engineers and aircraft operators on prime sensor capabilities.

  • Expertly analyze and interpret real world spectral data, using medium level statistical analysis techniques to provide solutions.

  • Understanding of Imaging Spectrometers, IDL, MATLAB and other analysis tools and programming languages.

  • Understanding of spectral phenomenology and the processing and exploitation of airborne and space-based HSI and electro-optical data.

  • Be able to provide expert advice to the organizational leaders regarding the processing, exploitation and dissemination architecture for HSI data.

  • The Government may accept 3 years of additional targeted hands on experience beyond the minimum in lieu of a Master's degree

Desired Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Candidate or PhD with additional years of expert experience in the fields of extensive hyper-spectral troubleshooting techniques, sensor to operator knowledge of production and collection experience are highly desirable.
