Summary:

· The Pharmacy Technician shall perform a full range of pharmacy technician duties and procedures at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center and satellite pharmacies located on Fort Gordon, Georgia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

· Read and interpret prescriptions, obtain proper medication in the proper strength and dosage form.

· Determine proper amounts and counts, pours or measures the medications.

· Affix proper labels and record required data on Pharmacy's copy of prescription order

· Dispense medication in ambulatory care or discharge situations (after a final check by Pharmacist)

· Independently fill first dose medications, missing doses and unit dose carts for inpatient areas without routine secondary review

· Document items dispensed in the unit dose computer package

· Prepare IV admixtures

· Maintain pre-determined level so automatic replenishment/ward stock medications for patient care areas

· Assist with inventory management

· Provide patient education on pharmacy topics such as requesting refills, drug information sheets and relaying questions to the Pharmacist.

· Receive, review, prepares, and fills physician orders.

· Perform pharmacy checks on sterile orders, bulk drug orders, and replenishing of medical carts

· Assist’s in conducting medication storage area inspections.

· Assures safe handling procedures for hazardous drugs.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

· Pharmacy Technician certification and have graduated Pharmacy Tech Schoolfrom a program accredited in the United States, acceptable to the Surgeon General of the Army or a Department of Defense (DOD) pharmacy technician-training program.

· One (1) plus years of experience, within the past three years, working as a Pharmacy Technician
