Summary:TheComputer Systems Operator will support the operations of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) GFC/C system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

  • Support the operation of the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) System to include, but not limited to monitoring assets, reporting, analyzing, and assisting with issues associated with operations, test and exercise events, scheduled system and site transitions, and development activities.

  • Utilize the Asset Management Process, the Consequence Management Plan, the Incident Command System, and Readiness Condition Specifications to support the GFC/C system

  • Archive related information, to include database records and provide to Resident Engineers, programmers, and product support personnel.

  • Responsible for the startup, configuration, monitoring, and analyzing of GFC/C operational software and connections to other Missile Defense assets and elements.

  • Interface with customers to provide Level 1 Problem Resolution, determine hardware/software and interface anomalies, generate trouble reports and perform recovery actions as directed by governing regulations.

  • Adhere to applicable procedures, policies, and directives utilizing appropriate processes, approved procedures and management directives.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • High school graduate

  • 1 years of computer related experience (e.g.: UNIX, MS Office, databases, software applications and hardware) and Sun Solaris platforms is desired.

  • 2 years of related military experience may be substituted for experience requirement.

  • IAT Certification at the level defined in DoD 8570 for job function or achieve certification within 30 days of employment.

  • Active secret clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Must be able and available to work on a 24 hour per day/7 day per week/365 day per year basis.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of military and government customers.

  • Ability to work effectively in small teams.

  • Ability to read, understand, and execute detailed technical documentation such as checklists and operational procedures.

  • Must display a high level of initiative, work well with others, and must be able to take ownership of problems and pro-actively work them to resolution.

  • Travel: Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time as needed.
