Manager of Facilities Management Medical City Fort Worth Full-Time

The Manager of Facilities Management is responsible for the management and coordination of Plaza Medical Center construction projects as well as other facility related projects as assigned by Director to meet departmental goals. The position establishes effective working relationships with hospital staff, contractors, design consultants and authorities having jurisdiction such as city building officials, TDH, JCHO, CMS, etc. The ability to complete multiple projects on time and within budget is required. the facilities and Special Projects Manager is expected to display a positive attitude as well as leadership attributes within the Facilities department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Supports the HCA Code of Conduct. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with organization mission and goals. 2. Ensures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment and adhering to Safety Program and Infection Control Programs. 3. Supports hospital and departmental Performance Improvement Goals. 4. Demonstrates and promotes Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth’s Mission and Values philosophies 5. Manages projects from conception through completion including but not limited to construction project coordination, owner/architect/contractor meetings, contract documents, bidding, budgets, scheduling, and space management. 6. Also performs special projects in support of the hospital mission and values and facility goals including: Power Point presentations, usage analysis, interfaces with staff, physicians, vendors, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, Plant Operations department, key user groups, patients and executive management. Identifies opportunities and remedies through continuous peer satisfaction and employee involvement. 7. Plans and coordinate utility shutdowns. 8. Assists Director in maintenance of capital and operating budgets. 9. Expected to participate periodically in strategic committees including construction committee, equipment committee, process improvement teams and EOC committees. 10. This position accepts accountability and responsibility as a leader in the Facilities department and will assume a primary leadership role in the absence of the Director. 11. Maintains acceptable attendance (including absences and tardiness); attends 90% of department staff meetings. 12. Contributes to the learning experience of new employees; acts as resource to fellow co-workers; maintains professional behaviors/interactions within the department and throughout the facility. 13. Responds promptly to all emergencies and/or disasters. Understands and/or performs required protocol, procedures, and related tasks as outlined and described in the hospital disaster policy. 14. Maintain and update Facilities Project List and review with Director on a weekly basis. 15. Utilizes Plant Operations staff in order to control cost on projects without adverse effect on plant operations man-hours budget. 16. Daily coordination of the maintenance function. Monitors performance of contractors and staff. Inspects all areas of the facility. 17. Communicates the expected level of performance to staff. Maintains communications with directors, managers, and supervisors in order to elevate the level of customer satisfaction. 18. Actively participates during internal and external inspections by regulatory agencies. Maintains necessary records and documentation. 19. Responsible for providing a safe, clean and attractive facility environment. 20. Reviews records, reports, logs, and files as required. 21. Maintains key control system for facility. Keeps key list current. Assists directors/managers with access control as required. Maintains an inventory of spare keys and blanks. 22. Controls parts inventory and supply orders. Orders materials and parts based on hospital mission and priorities. Maintains an inventory of high use, high priority parts and supplies. Utilizes distributors to maintain inventory of low priority, low use parts and supplies. Communicates when parts orders are delayed to mechanics and directors/managers. 23. The employee reflects HCA values and sensitivity to HCA’s ethical and compliance principles in his or her daily activities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education and Training Experience Required • Baccalaureate Degree in Construction or Engineering related field preferred. • Must have at least three (3) years experience in project or construction management and/or worked in an acute care hospital with experience of hospital regulatory compliance. • Includes the ability to read blue prints using diagrams and schematics on electrical and mechanical equipment. • Must be familiar with building maintenance and construction techniques, equipment and operation of various systems including plumbing, HVAC, electrical and structural and applicable hospital equipment (i.e.: chillers, boilers etc.). Must be familiar with applicable codes: federal, state, city, NFPA and JCAHO regulations relating to healthcare facilities. • Ability to read blue prints, wiring diagrams and schematics of electrical and mechanical equipment
