Job Description

Job Summary/Purpose: Support commodity purchasing activities, including tactical MRP execution, Kanban maintenance, ECO implementation, RTV transactions, and PO maintenance.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Work under the day to day direction of the Procurement Manager while taking direction and guidance from the commodity leads & value stream teams for continued improvement of the supply chain

  • Support multiple value streams in the area of materials procurement (direct and indirect) including review and execution of MRP generated action messages

  • Maintain day to day communication with suppliers to ensure high levels of on-time delivery, system data integrity, and ordering parameters for individual materials

  • Participate in outsourcing initiatives as directed by the supply chain team to transition non-core competency activities to value-add suppliers while working in coordination with Strategic Sourcing representatives

  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in the supply base by identifying performance or quality issues within the supply base and coordinate with Strategic Sourcing representatives to drive improvement or resourcing actions

  • Work with domestic and international suppliers for material procurement, including low cost regions such as Mexico, China, Indonesia, and others

  • Actively maintain the electronic Kanban system to ensure material flow, demand pull, and minimization of replenishment lead time

  • Manage the purchased material aspects of new product introductions into production

  • Promote the use of VMI / VOMI programs to optimize purchased material inventory levels

  • Drive improvements to Customer Allegiance Scores by procuring material on-time and proactively identifying any material availability issues

  • Support and drive continuous improvement throughout the business through the use of Thermo Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred however can be replaced with applicable work or industry experience; APICS and/or ISM certification is desirable

Experience/Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • SAP experience preferred

  • Analytical skills

  • Ability to follow through on tasks to completion

  • High degree of initiative

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Personal computer skills to include ERP and MRP systems

  • Good customer/supplier relations skills

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams including design, development, marketing and customer service and developing supply chain requirements to support material flow optimization

  • Microsoft Office Proficiency

  • Experience in implementation of lean manufacturing and other world class manufacturing/purchasing practices required

  • Experience in outsourcing to low cost regions

  • Project based proficiency with a track record of outsourcing high level assemblies

  • 3-5 years of experience in supply chain in a manufacturing environment.
