Job Summary

Rust Constructors, an AECOM Company, is seeking a Rig Welder to be based in our Frederick, Colorado location.The Welder is responsible for welding metal components with welding equipment to fit, join, fabricate, and/or repair heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.

Position Description and Typical Responsibilities:

Duties may include operating various types welding equipment (GMAW, FCAW, SMAW). Often responsible for understanding and applying good mathematical, science, mechanical and logical reasoning abilities.


  • Joining or severing piping and other metal components

  • Build up worn parts by welding layers of high strengthen hard metal alloys into them

  • Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment according to specifications

  • Selects equipment and plans layouts, assembly and welding applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage

Minimum Requirements


  • None


  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience

  • Must possess welding rig and required level of insurance

  • Must be able to pass an API 1104 (pipelines and related facilities) weld assessment screening

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • 6 months of related experience in oilfield construction

  • Preferred candidates with trade school experience, seminar or other relevant training

  • Journeyman certification
