About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.
Aecom is actively seeking an experienced, highly talented GIS Mapper for immediate employment in the Germantown, MD office.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
work closely with project managers, water resource engineers and the AECOM production lead on GIS and mapping task related to RiskMap/DFIRM projects
Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping
Will use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Geography or other related field required
5+ years of experience regularly working with ESRI products and other GIS software
Knowledge and experience in ESRI products including 3D and Spatial Analyst extensions
Extensive knowledge of FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Guidelines and Specifications for Mapping Partners; Thorough knowledge of tasks and processes regarding creation of Risk MAP Regulatory DFIRM Mapping and Non-Regulatory (Risk MAP) Products
Spatial data understanding, GIS analysis, Cartography, Model building/Python, and Microsoft Office Suite
Good communication and writing skills
Ability to create maps, figures and graphics that follow a clear and aesthetic layout
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently
Independently motivated, Excellent time management skills
A good understanding of Hazus software for flood risk assessment
Certified Floodplain Mapper (CFM)
- Familiarity with Python coding
