Unit Description

Sodexo Leisure has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef Manager at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, IL . This Chef Manager will work directly with the Executive Chef to support the culinary operations for this prestigious location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing daily culinary production for an esteemed, busy quick service Retail Café along with multiple, diverse venues & high end catering

  • Additional responsibilities including interviewing, training, staffing and scheduling

  • Working alongside the Executive Chef, the successful chef will be in charge of directing the kitchen’s operations in the absence of the Executive Chef and assist them in resolving any problems that may arise on the job

You are/have experience:

  • Manage and execute the daily food production including production planning and controls for retail and catering

  • Oversight of kitchen operations including food production, ordering, inventory, sanitation

  • Plan and execute high-end catering events

  • Knowledge and passionate about sustainable practices

  • deliver high quality food service

  • Knowledge of sustainable cooking practices & local product sourcing

  • Exemplary communication skills with the ability to lead a culinary team

  • Experience with safety and sanitation controls, HACCP, food ordering & inventory as well as hiring, training & managing staff

Position Summary

Responsible for the day to day execution of the menus & culinary deliverables. May be responsible for smaller units within a multi-location.

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED or equivalent

Basic Management Experience - 1 year
