Verizon Malware Reverse Engineer Analyst in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
What you’ll be doing...
As an entry level Malware Reverse Engineer Analyst on Verizon’s Threat Research and Advisory Center (VTRAC) Labs team, you will balance the demands of supporting network forensic field consultants, performing malicious code triage, developing reverse engineering skills, managing the VTRAC Team’s back end systems and applications, and managing evidence from forensic and other security threat engagements. You will be responsible for integrity in analysis, quality in client deliverables, and the security of evidence and lab systems.
As a Malware Reverse Engineer Analyst, you will help develop and maintain systems dedicated to network forensic and malicious code analysis, as well as those supporting back end functionality. Providing first-level support for the team’s malicious code analysts engaging in forensic investigations will be a key aspect of this role. The experience gained by doing so will lead to opportunities to focus on malicious code analysis and reverse engineering as a primary function.
Proficiency with scripting languages, developing code, and troubleshooting computer applications is crucial as the Labs team is responsible for the function and security of the forensic labs from the physical realm to application layer.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or other technical field, or one or more years of work experience.
Experience with scripting (e.g., python, perl) and programming (e.g., Java, C, C++).
Willingness to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Even Better if have:
Experience developing software applications
Experience with reverse engineering applications (particularly malicious code)
Malcode analysis skills
Network forensic analysis experience
Experience with scripting system administration or other tasks
Network configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge in Linux, Windows, macOS operating systems including server versions of those operating systems
An understanding of information security, network architecture, database concepts, document management, hardware and software troubleshooting, Microsoft Office applications, and virtualization solutions
The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while maintaining confidentiality and a professional image
The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
The ability to successfully manage multiple projects on a daily basis
The ability to work as part of a team, and to absorb knowledge on the fly
InfoSec certifications (e.g., Security+, EnCE, ACE, SANS, etc.)
IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, Linux, CompTIA)
The ability to lift devices up to 42 pounds
