Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversees the management, development and execution of the underwriting quality assurance functions for the business.

Build and maintain relationships with underwriting regional management and staff, with a key focus on educating and developing the underwriting staff. Works closely with Business Unit Underwriting Leadership at the Home Office and Field level.

Leads Quality Assurance Reviews for assigned business unit.

Oversees the coordination of underwriting quality assurance schedules; ensures appropriate size and scope of file sample; ensures adequate files are reviewed; responsible for selection and leadership of a diverse review team.

Manages day-to-day quality assurance schedules, follows up on Field Level Reviews, and compiles review results.

Approximately 30% Travel involved. Travel 1 week at a time.

Maintains consistency for underwriting quality assurance functions and results across the business.

Identifies and reports on underwriting issues/trends identified across the business and works with key stakeholders to assesses their implications and develop corrective measures as appropriate. Translates these trends into training and development opportunities for the underwriting staff.

Assesses the execution of underwriting controls, determines the potential impact of any insufficient execution and recommends corrective actions to the business.

Prepares or assists with the preparation of Senior Management reports.

Prepares monitoring reports that highlight key developments in the business and recommends a course of corrective action.

Serves as the point of contact for specific Business Unit, Enterprise Underwriting, Corporate Audit, Compliance and State

Regulators regarding underwriting audit-related issues.

Monitors adequacy and quality of Field Level review process and results; tracks completion of required assessments. Monitors trends.

Ensures Corrective Action Plans are executed effectively.

Responsible of overall quality, content and consistency of quality assurance reports.

Proactively coach field managers and AEs to enhance their underwriting skills.

Identifies training needs.

May lead or participate in projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, responsible for providing objective, independent, risk-based underwriting quality and control evaluations for the Construction Business Unit. Responsible for underwriting quality assurance functions and results for a business with approximately $2 billion or more in revenue. Business profile includes both Guaranteed Cost and Loss Sensitive business.

This position will report to the Middle Market Quality Assurance lead with a matrix reporting relationship to the Chief Underwriting Officer of Construction.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:

Bachelor degree preferred. Typically has a minimum of 10 years experience in commercial property casualty business, preferably underwriting. Prior audit experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Prior audit experience required.
