This candidate will be the lead lawyer supporting our Public & Labor business and a member of the team supporting national accounts. The candidate will have responsibility for contracting, regulatory compliance, member and benefits matters.

Fundamental Components:

This candidate will serve as the senior healthcare counsel for the Public & Labor business providing legal guidance on a broad range of healthcare issues applicable to that business and will be a key member of the team supporting National Accounts. Key responsibilities include: 1) serving as the primary point of contact for all business personnel in Public & Labor; 2) advising clients on public sector procurement rules; 3) managing public sector protests; 4) negotiating customer contracts; 5) advising clients with respect to the application of statutes and regulations to the Companys Public & Labor and National Accounts businesses, including ERISA, HIPAA privacy and other federal, state and local laws; 6) advising clients on benefit and plan design issues; 7) reviewing communications/marketing materials; and 8) serving as a resource to other lawyers in the Law Department with respect to ERISA, state procurement rules, public sector protest procedures and Taft-Hartley requirements.


Knowledge of healthcare laws and issues, as well as an understanding of healthcare policies highly preferable. Exposure to large customer issues and contracting processes is also preferable. The role requires creativity and flexibility in addressing the needs of large customers while managing associated risks effectively.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a JD.
