Aetna Finance Transformation Project Lead in Hartford, Connecticut

Project role to improve and streamline Financial Reporting process. This includes identifying areas of opportunity to change existing processes and support new system implementations. Lead discussions and analysis of current Oracle chart of accounts usage, determine appropriateness of values and optimal future state. Work with business users to assess impacts of changes, manage the process change and ensure proper rollout.

Fundamental Components:

  • Transformation role within the Controllers team to lead General Ledger project initiative

  • Interact with various levels of management to develop and articulate business requirements for the general ledger and financial reporting

  • Work with impacted end users to change business processes, journal templates and/or source system feeds

  • Redesign GAAP and STAT reports using the new hierarchies and General Ledger structure

  • Manage status reports for ongoing activities.

  • Manage multiple system impacts for changes across the Oracle General Ledger, Hyperion and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)

  • Detailed analysis of chart of accounts and evaluation of related business processes


    -10+ years of significant/pertinent accounting/financial experience, including project management.

    -Accounting/General Ledger experience REQUIRED

  • Experience in managing process change desired.

  • Expert understanding of the Oracle General Ledger and key components including FSGs, COA hierarchy, mass allocations, including time spent supporting the General Ledger

    -Prior experience simplifying accounting/general ledger processes.

  • Knowledge of Financial Accounting Hub


    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

    The Financial Transformation team is within the Controllers Department. The Unit is responsible for various finance improvement projects. This position will provide an opportunity to learn and interact with various areas within the company.
