Join the technical team that is helping revolutionize Aetna in becoming a true digital health organization. The Principal Data Solutions Architect provides strategic leadership in the design of large scale solutions that leverage Aetna's Big Data and Cloud technologies. With heavy focus on data, this individual will be a key leader within the Solutions Engineering Team for highly complex projects involving multiple resources and tasks, providing individual mentoring in support of the company's objectives.

Fundamental Components:

Acts as thought Leader to provide expert technical consultation to Senior IT Management strategic planning teams.

Provides Solution Definition for Digital and Marketing initiatives.

Supports development of roadmap for the Analytics Data Platform and Data Fabric.

Educates Stakeholders on the various solution technologies such as; Aetna's Data Fabric and Analytics Data Platform.

Leads development and execution of highly complex and large scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs.

Leverages broad knowledge of market-leading edge technologies and specialized expertise in programming skills such as Python or Java or any of the major languages to creatively solve highly complex business problems.

Anticipates and solves highly complex problems with detailed knowledge of multiple programming languages and data infrastructure.

Designs complex, production systems and participates in POCs (Proof of Concepts) and Agile Sprints to ensure successful delivery.

Define, recommend and apply designed solution patterns using various programming languages to solve challenging analytics problems.

Analyzes current information technology environments to identify and assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions.

Designs and modifies components of new and existing IT systems to promote integrated corporate business systems.

Collaborates cross-functionally to build and convert algorithms and models into production systems to support enterprise initiatives.

Develop frameworks, standards & reference material for architecture and associated products.

Provides guidance for enterprise-wide technology roadmap.

Experiments with available tools and advises on new tools in order to determine optimal solution given the requirements dictated by the model/use case.

Applies knowledge of systems and products to consult and advise on additional efforts across organization/enterprise.


  • 10 or more years of progressively complex health care data analyst experience.

  • 5+ years of experience providing solution definition for complex solutions.

  • 2+ yeas of practical work experience with Big Data and Cloud Solutions.

  • Project Management experience preferred.

  • Has in-depth knowledge of large scale search applications and building high volume data pipelines.

  • Expert experience implementing complex, enterprise-wide data transformation and processing solutions.

  • Able to report and present data analysis and business decisions to the Key Stake Holders.

  • Experience with Visual Software such as; Tableau

  • Good business acumen.

  • Previous Manage Healthcare experience.


    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
