Aetna is looking for a mainframe performance & capacity engineer. This is a senior engineer position responsible for mainframe performance and application troubleshooting, capacity analysis, mainframe infrastructure planning, and metrics reporting for Aetnas computer systems, business applications, and infrastructure components.
Possession of the following skills with increased probability of consideration with greater knowledge and experience:
Strong understanding of mainframe performance and CPU/memory capacity topics
z/OS operating system and mainframe architecture knowledge
Working knowledge of mainframe performance tools & commands (OMEGMON) and strong APM software experience.
Experience working with data and formulas in Microsoft Excel
Statistical forecasting using Microsoft Excel and ability to create charts
Understanding and recognizing application & server utilization trends (hourly/weekly/monthly/yearly).
Clear written and verbal communication.
Ability to author and present infrastructure plans to supervisors and technical staff
Ability to lead/mentor teams of junior engineers
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mainframe application and system issues using APM tools
Assist development teams with application and system troubleshooting
Assist with management of vendor partners, related hardware/software products, and product evaluation
5-7+ years experience in mainframe performance analysis and troubleshooting
Experience with any of the following performance profiling or diagnostic tools: Compuware Vantage, AppDynamics, Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP), ITCAM, or SMF Data Reporting (MICS, SAS)
Demonstrates broad knowledge of multiple infrastructure disciplines
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
Strong understanding of various software including CICS, DB2, MQ, WebSphere
Expert level experience with hardware architectures and z/OS
Expert level with mainframe performance and CPU/memory capacity topics
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in JCL
Excellent written/oral communication skills - speak and write English fluently
