Eaton Corporation Manufacturing Engineer in Hastings, Nebraska

Eaton’s Vehicle Group has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer located in Hastings, NE.

The primary function of the Manufacturing Engineer is to provide engineering support to the manufacturing process for components of existing product lines; maintain and improve current manufacturing processes affecting quality, productivity and capacity. This may also includes research and development of new technologies and techniques and supporting new product launches.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor, improve and maintain processes, layouts, and part prints.

  • Part Processing (Implement ECN’s and Process Change Requests)

  • CNC Programming and tool design (lathes, hobs, shapers, shavers, etc.)

  • Create and revise Process Drawings, Process Sheets, and routings both in Oracle and Matrix

  • Develop and implement programs/projects that support the business plan of plant management.

  • Active member of Flow Line team to meet departmental goals and objectives.

  • Maintain a constant search for identifiable and measurable cost reductions through scrap analysis and technology applications.

  • Participate in capital planning, investigate equipment alternatives, prepare appropriation justifications, implement equipment, and evaluate results.

  • Participate in Lean activities.

  • Obtain print deviations from divisional Product Engineering and coordinate deviations at plant level.

  • Implementation of new processes for new product launch.

  • Responsible for the implementation and deployment of actions to ensure compliance with all safety regulations, and laws as they apply to their areas of responsibility.

  • Participate and assist in meeting all plant Environmental Health and Safety objectives.

  • Assists in training new employees.

  • Assists in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and team efforts for accomplishing department and plant goals.

  • Responsible for the implementation and deployment of actions to ensure compliance with ISO 14001, TS 16949, OSHA regulations, and all Federal, State, and Local laws as they apply to their areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required

  • Must be legally authorized in the US without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering field

  • Prior machining/CNC experience

  • Knowledge of PLC/Programming

  • 1 year of Manufacturing experience (may include co-ops and internships)

  • Leadership/Project Management experience

  • High volume manufacturing experience

  • Automotive Industry experience

Position Criteria:

  • Good communication and problem solving skills.

  • Working knowledge and experience in aspects of manufacturing, i.e. knowledge and operation of machine tools, assembly, blue print reading, measurement systems, and working within a structured team environment.

  • Knowledge of the financial side of the business, i.e. departmental budgets, capital planning, profit plan, and production measurement systems.

  • Specific knowledge with steel machining processes and general knowledge of assembly processes.

  • Capability to conduct time studies and implement solutions for bottleneck improvements and line balancing.

  • Knowledge of statistical methods used to analyze process variations.

  • Knowledge of environmental laws and O.S.H.A. rules and regulation.

  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
