This position is responsible for coordinating financial systems planning and analysis activities across the Materials & Structural Analysis Division (MSD). In this role, you will develop analysis and insights to help business partners understand key performance and provide recommendations to shape investment decisions. MSD is a global $1+ billion division within Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. with multiple instruments, service and consumable product offerings

Based at MSD’s headquarters in Hillsboro, OR, you will work closely with the MSD Leadership Team, including business unit finance and general managers on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative solutions to automate and scale business systems, acting as power user across multiple systems

  • Enhance analysis/tools to provide executive management with clear insights into drivers of business growth, risks, and opportunities

  • Provide reports, analysis, and commentary on the business units’ adherence to AOP and forecasting on all responsible line items (e.g. Organic Growth, Bookings, Revenue, and expense spending), ensuring alignment across all systems

  • Assist in the development and preparation of annual strategic plan, annual budget, monthly forecasts, and monthly results analyses

  • Support month end consolidation activities and ensure compliance with Corporate timelines and expectations

  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization in reporting within the business units. Aid the development and understanding of key business unit operating metrics (price realization, volume performance, R&D spending, Marketing spending, etc.) and report performance to the established metrics

  • Support finance integration activities and synergy tracking after IMO is dissolved

  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc financial reporting as required

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of progressive systems experience

  • Excellent system skills, including SQL, MS Excel (Hyperion/CMR, EPM and QAD preferred)

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience

  • Able to turn data into actionable insights

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects

  • Self-motivated with high bias for action and accountability

  • Strong financial system capabilities and desire to improve processes using system tools

  • Proven track record to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities, and work under pressure
