Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Business Unit is actively seeking a creative, innovative, and highly motivated mid-level Municipal Water/ Wastewater Engineer for immediate employment in the Houston, Texas office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful, and be decisive.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a career in design / engineering, specific to water and wastewater infrastructure engineering projects. The selected candidate will support AECOM’s water/wastewater business with a variety of primarily municipal clients in Houston and throughout the Gulf Coast Region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Collect and analyze data, conduct feasibility studies, and prepare technical reports for municipal water/wastewater systems

  • Lead the development of design reports, contract drawings and specifications for construction

  • Perform hydraulic evaluations of complex water and wastewater systems

  • Prepare environmental documentation for permitting or regulatory program compliance

  • Conduct engineering services during construction for major water/wastewater facilities

  • Attend client meetings and technical presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 2+ years of Water/Wastewater Treatment Design experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or ability to obtain

  • Experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables

  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods

  • Ability to manage small teams of discipline engineers and designers

  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or related field

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience

  • Ability to take a project from inception through conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs, and ultimately through construction and commissioning

  • Strong report and proposal writing capability

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be client-facing

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams

  • Self-starter and ability to take initiative

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
