Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Transportation Project Manager with a mix of management, engineering, business development, and client service experience for immediate employment in the Houston, TX office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing and marketing a wide array of civil engineering designs and project management for Transportation oriented projects. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate successful management of public sector transportation projects with an emphasis on TxDOT experience. Join a team of experienced transportation civil engineers designing major and municipal roadways. As part of the highway design team, you will have the opportunity to lead roadway design projects and follow through with the construction for major and municipal roadways.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Significant Schematic Design, PS&E design, and program management/GEC activities for multiple state and municipal clients

  • Collaborate and coordinate with design teams consisting of multi-discipline design engineers and technicians and subconsultants

  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, public officials and funding agencies

  • Project Manager on significant projects assignments; this will including writing scope of work, financial tracking, invoicing, schedule, and quality of work, etc.

  • Coordinate and mentor other staff in the execution of assignments

  • Coordinate staffing plan and workload though the entire project development duration while meeting project schedules and budgets

  • Coordinate with Business Unit Managers

  • Plan, direct, and design all aspects of large multi-discipline projects involving freeways, interchanges, and grade separations

  • Mentor and develop staff, provide leadership and an environment which encourages teamwork, initiative and growth

  • Participate with AECOM’s Surface Transportation Lead in the strategic development, planning, RFQ response and winning of work and roadways

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Transportation engineering is required

  • 8+ years of related experience, specifically Schematic and PS&E design experience for TxDOT

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, or ability to obtain in 6 months

  • Experienced in conducting public meetings and interfacing with stakeholders

  • Must be able to thrive in a team environment

  • Must have excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to scope/estimate complex roadway projects

  • Ability to track and manage project budgets and schedules

  • Experience supervising design teams and mentoring staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership skills to develop engineers and project managers

  • A seller and doer motivated to leverage AECOM’s capabilities to maximize our impact in Texas

  • Appropriate TxDOT precertifications for performing Schematic and PS&E Design projects

  • Significant TxDOT schematic project experience
