POSITION SUMMARY:

The HCAT Social Worker serves as a behavioral health consultant to physicians by providing specialized care to patients experiencing psychiatric distress. The HCAT Social Worker conducts behavioral health assessments to determine a provisional diagnosis and recommend a safe discharge plan of care for patients. Patients are predominantly in the emergency department or admitted to the medical units of HCA hospitals. The HCAT Social Worker interacts with patient, family and medical staff via tele-video and telephone technology.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: License / Certifications Requires LMSW, LPC or LMFT in the state of Texas. Education: Requires Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling.

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience conducting crisis assessments, preferably within an emergency medical model. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in autonomous environment. Ability to work in fast paced, high energy and stressful environment. Inquisitive and proactive characteristics are preferred. Ability to provide crisis intervention and engage multiple systems in diagnostic formulation and disposition.
Cognizant of dynamic relationship between patient experience and customer service. Regular practice of self-care.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Must be able to concentrate and work amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and move from one task to another; must be able to manage frustration tolerance. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to interview patients via tele-video technology, communicate telephonically, and complete documentation in electronic medical records. Work shifts are increments of 8, 10 and 12 hours, including weekends and holidays. Primary work setting is an office environment. Occasionally, travel to local hospitals to conduct in person assessments is necessary.
