*_ESSENTIAL DUTIES:_* Is responsible for the delivery of evidenced based and family centered patient care to age birth to 18 years of age in the pediatric setting utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). This may include caring for children involving respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic, hematologic/oncologic, endocrine/metabolic, gastrointestinal, renal, and other illnesses and diseases. Is responsible for functioning as a clinical resource assisting in identifying appropriate required human resources related to assignments according to current census and acuity. Is expected to be engaged in participating in the overall operations of the unit by identifying opportunities for improvements and providing feedback on the quality of care and services provided. Participation in quality improvement initiatives is required. Is capable of making independent decisions, and reports pertinent information to the attending physician, charge nurse, nurse manager, house supervisor, following and respecting chains of command. *_QUALIFICATIONS:_* · Requires completion from accredited school of nursing. · Must maintain current State Registered Nurse license. · Current AHA CPR for Healthcare Providers card. · Previous pediatric nursing in an acute care setting is preferred but will consider new graduates.

_Professional Expectations_

· Completes all orientation and skills checklists. · Complete and maintain hospital/unit specific mandatory requirements in a timely manner. Individuals will be enrolled in courses relevant to current practice and regulatory requirements. · Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire. · Attends at least 75% of staff meetings and other meetings as assigned. · Maintains a philosophy of “life- long learning” and remains current on the most evidenced based standards of practice related to the specialty.
