Job Summary

This position will be located in the Indianapolis, Indiana office for AECOM Hunt.

Responsibilities:

Develop, create and prepare construction cost estimates for large complex projects in the early stages of development and continue to support the project team with updated cost information throughout the Pre-construction phase of the projects. The position will require involvement in several projects simultaneously. The position will require travel both nationally and internationally as project opportunities present themselves.

  • Participate in detailed conceptual estimates from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design and design development documents.

  • Work in a team environment to perform and/or coordinate quantity survey efforts to produce detailed cost estimates.

  • Prepare and distribute document packages to engage subcontractors, suppliers and vendors in order to solicit reliable budget information.

  • Review subcontractor, supplier and vendor pricing information for compliance with the scope and budget requirements.

  • Continually maintain key subcontractor, supplier and vendor relationships.

  • Utilize historical cost information and organize as required for application to the various project types.

  • Continually work to develop innovative solutions for the various project requirements.

  • Utilize enterprise based solution software applications for delivery of services.

  • Participate in all training required for enterprise based software required to perform position specific tasks.

  • Participate either as an individual or as part of a team in presentations related to the pursuit, preconstruction, construction or delivery of projects and/or professional organization conferences.

  • Coordinate with the operations and project based personnel in the performance of all tasks.

  • Be able to conduct and manage project team and/or design team meetings as necessary for specific projects.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with multiple design, engineering and consulting firms.

  • Continual review of recently completed project data and incorporation of the data into the historical cost database.

  • Performs other tasks and functions as directed by the Vice President of Estimating, Project Executive – Preconstruction and Executive Vice President and Division Manager

Minimum Requirements

  • BS or BA required. Preferred areas of study include construction, management, engineering or architecture.

  • Appropriate experience would be recent and in a full-time, solely dedicated estimating or estimating manager position.

  • Prior professional experience working within the construction industry is required.

  • 10+ years required. 15+ years preferred.

  • Competent in knowledge and application in matters regarding construction cost estimating and design management.

  • Able to work autonomously and independently with drive and passion to deliver effective, efficient and on-time results with little to no supervision.

  • Possess advanced computer skills and experience to include but not limited to Internet Explorer, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Powerpoint, Adobe, Bluebeam, OnCenter, MC2 and/or other similar software applications.

  • Able to confidently speak before large groups of people in an articulate and professional manner for purposes of presenting the company before professional trade associations, team members and clients.

  • Communicates with tact and professionalism through both oral and written mediums.

  • Exudes an optimistic, encouraging and approachable character.

  • Applies sound business acumen to insure cost-benefit rationale is applied to activity to pursue best practices.

  • Earns and maintains trust by demonstrating honesty, accountability and reliability

  • Able to travel up to 25% or greater, including overnights and hours outside of regular workdays as directed and needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the construction industry specifically in the areas of estimating and/or design management is preferred.
