Eaton Corporation Quality Engineer in Irvine, California

Eaton’s Fluid Motion Control Systems Group within the Aerospace Division is seeking a Quality Engineer. The Quality Engineer will be based at our Irvine, CA facility.

Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for executing the defined Strategic Quality Plan in conjunction with Plant Leadership. Provides Quality Assurance support to internal/external customers, suppliers, partners and the internal Manufacturing, Assembly & Test cells. Participates in continuous improvement activities in targeted areas. Executes the Quality Assurance strategy to ensure product flow consistent with established industry standards, government regulations and various customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary quality interface and expertise focusing on proactively assuring Customer requirements are understood and are being satisfied.

  • Lead & support Customer, Internal and Third Party Audits as required.

  • Execute the development, implementation and the continued improvement of the Quality Management Systems throughout the operation

  • Working collaboratively with all levels of the site in supporting Eaton’s Business System goals and objectives

  • Analyzing organizational Customer/Internal quality metrics and performing periodic reviews to evaluate results recommending, planning & taking actions to close gaps at an operational level

  • Champion activities to contribute and drive in the investigation and elimination of internal and external quality problems using applicable problem solving techniques for determining Containment, Root Cause and Corrective/Preventive Action solutions along with Verification actions

  • Developing Advanced Quality Plans with respect to Eaton & Customer requirements

  • Participate as required in product development gate review meetings with launch activities.

  • Provide support in the way of development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions and process audits.

  • Develop, implement and audit inspection and test plans, acceptance criteria, and process/work instructions


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in industry with customer specific quality registration schemes and certification processes (i.e., ISO9001, ISO/TS-16949, AS9100 etc.)

  • Minimum of 1 year managing all quality requirement of key Customer program(s). i.e. concerns about received product, status of returned product (RMA), submittals of non-compliant material etc.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50 mile radius of the Irvine, CA facility will be considered

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Contract Review, Quality Planning & Failure Analysis.

  • Strong Working knowledge and understanding of key Prime Customer Quality requirements.

  • CQE or AS9100 Lead Auditor Certified.

Position Criteria:

  • Working experience of problem solving methods-i.e. Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems, evaluate and complete improvement projects.

  • Working knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements.

  • Working experience in Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction concepts and tool sets as they relate to process/product variability, and root cause and corrective action determination.

  • Familiarity with engineering design and product reliability concepts and tool sets.

  • Willingness to ‘Think outside the box’ and can work well individually or in a Team environment.

  • Using good judgment in knowing when to ask or when to action independently.
