7-Eleven Federal Tax Manager in Irving, Texas

Overview:

Responsible for managing all aspects of tax compliance activities including returns, financial statement review and analysis, and documentation of tax issues and positions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision - Accounting for income Taxes - Prepares/oversees the review of the tax provision and tax footnote, and analysis of general ledger tax accounts.

  • Reviews/ prepares quarterly Audit schedules for external auditors.

  • Oversees the Oracle Fixed Asset monthly and annual processing and reporting for 6 tax books.

  • Meets regularly with financial reporting and property accounting to ensure appropriate tax reporting and capital asset tax treatment.

  • Tax Return Compliance - Plans, manages, and reviews all separate or consolidated federal and Canada tax returns and work papers to ensure proper determination of liability, and timely and efficient reporting.

  • Monitors and ensures that all tax positions are adequately and appropriately disclosed in accordance with applicable tax laws and regulations.

  • Researches complex tax issues and generates documentation to support return filling positions.

  • Oversees the collection of tax data and ensures the successful operation of tax systems.

  • Prepares/oversees the estimated income tax payments process to ensure compliance and maximize cash utilization.

  • Tax Planning/Budgeting & Forecast/M&A - Supports M&A and Financial Reporting ensuring that tax consequences of transactions are properly reported in the provision and tax return.

  • Assists in M&A activities including due diligence and transaction structure research.

  • Participates in confidential management meetings discussing pending acquisitions and effectively communicating to the team any potential tax impacts.

  • Responsible for executing on the tax impacts of all acquisitions including but not limited to the provision, tax return, cash taxes and effective tax rate.

  • Audits - Assist in Internal Revenue Service and Canada Revenue Agency audits including preparation and review of request for information and analysis of positions.

  • Develops and implements tax compliance/provision processes and systems to optimize reporting efficiency and accuracy and maximize organizational cash flow.

  • Writes, reviews, and assists with finalizing internal SOX procedures.

  • Participates in the development of staff. Perform related work and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors/4 Yr Degree CPA preferred

  • Experience: 7-10, Corporate Tax, Tax Research, Tax Planning, Forecasting and Budgeting, Merger & Acquisitions, Accounting for Income Tax and Tax Return Compliance.

  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, Corptax, etc.

  • Strong working knowledge of income tax research, planning, accounting for income tax and tax return compliance.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Strong supervisory and management skills.
